The Osmosys BD-J engine for Blu-ray Disc players has been designed to meet the need of BD player & recorderBlu_ray Logo manufacturers who will benefit from the long-term experience and expertise of Osmosys in Java-based interactive television.

The Osmosys BD-J engine forms part of a product offering that has been derived from the award-winning Osmosys' MHP middleware source code, which has seen millions of deployments since 2002. Customers of the Osmosys BD-J engine benefit from the stability and maturity of our GEM-based software which has been deployed in hardware products for satellite, cable, terrestrial and IP networks for both pay-tv and retail markets.

The Osmosys BD-J Engine supports both BD-ROM and BD-Live profiles. It has been commercially deployed with a number of CE brands around the world.  Osmosys is an active member of the Blu-Ray Disc Association and tracks the BD-J specification closely.

Osmosys has developed a new graphics technology that delivers new ways to radically enhance both the performance and graphical capabilities currently unavailable through today’s STBs.

EGG is a middleware independent technology, and can be used with any middleware, or even just embedded applications.  Needless to say, it also works flawlessly with any Osmosys middleware.

EGG is currently running on ST and Broadcom platforms, with more coming.

The Osmosys MHP 1.0 Middleware breaks the old model of expensive vendor lock-in that comes with all the proprietary middleware offerings.  MHP was specifically designed to work in a variety of networks and guarantee that using MHP means you are never stuck with only one supplier.  At the same time MHP was designed to work with standard internet protocols.  Most 1st genera tion interactive TV middleware wasn’t designed to use TCP/IP.
